MCABC's CEO has been recognized for her leadership, vision, and innovation.

The Winner in the Leader Category of the BCBusiness Women of the Year Awards, Kim Barbero is being celebrated for her dedication to moving both MCABC and the wider industry forward.
Since joining MCABC in 2019, Kim has undertaken initiatives to address the biggest issues of the day, including the labour shortage, gender diversity in the workplace, emerging technologies, and climate action.
It's no surprise to her team, the Board of Directors, or indeed, anyone who has worked with Kim, that she has received this honour. Her passion for mechanical contracting and relentless spirit have made her an incredible leader who elevates the industry and the organization.

Province Releases New Process for Skilled Trades Certification
In response to feedback from industry stakeholders and partners, SkilledTradesBC is accepting applications for more trades to be certified. B.C. businesses, labour organizations, industry associations, Indigenous organizations and communities that work or have an interest in the trades may apply for their trade to be designated. Applications are open until June 30, 2023.

MCABC Promotes Trades Careers at MOSAIC Job Fair
On May 9th, the MCABC team and a few volunteers from the membership attended the MOSAIC Job Fair which had over 3500 jobseekers come through! The goal was to educate job seekers about the many opportunities in mechanical contracting and encourage them to consider a career in the industry. It was a great opportunity to spread the word about skilled trades.

Next Gen Board AGM & Election

Over the past year, MCABC’s Next Gen Board (for 40ish and under) have been hard at work resulting in a formal structure for the group; identified needs of our Student Chapter; an education session; and successful social event. MCABC invites both mechanical contractors and associate members to nominate themselves for a position on this progressive Board, which also has representation on the MCABC Board.
