Skilled Trades Certification (STC) - Let's break it down

Skilled Trades Certification is a BC government initiative that seeks to standardize the training apprentices receive, works to level the playing field, and builds a diverse workforce. In the next decade, there will be more than 83,000 job openings and there's never been a better time to join the skilled trades! While BC has a strong and effective trades training system that offers multiple pathways for certification, it has not had compulsory trades for two decades.

Effective December, 1, 2023, Skilled Trades Certification was implemented for four mechanical trades:

  • Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic
  • Steam fitter/Pipefitter
  • Gasfitter A/Gasfitter B
  • Sheet Metal Worker

To break it down, MCABC will be hosting a #coffeetalk on January 25th @ 8AM. Registration details below.
