UA Piping Industry College of BC

The UA Piping Industry College of BC (UAPICBC) is a Trade School and non-profit society offering pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, and certification training for Plumbing, Sprinklerfitting, Steamfitting, and Welding.

Established in 1988, UAPICBC has trained students in the piping trades and is recognized and designated by the Industry Training Authority (ITA) and the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB). UAPICBC operates across three campuses in British Columbia: the Lower Mainland, Fort St. John, and Terrace.

UA Local 170

For over 125 years, The United Association of Journeymen & Apprentices of the Plumbing & Pipefitting Industry of the US & Canada (UA Local 170) has represented approximately 4,000 apprentices and journeypersons across British Columbia.

UA170 members work in the ICI and Residential sectors, representing various Red Seal trades, including Plumbing, Pipefitting, Sprinkler-fitting, Instrumentation & Controls, Welding and Gasfitting.

UA Local 170 BC is a part of the United Association, which represents 57,000 members in Canada.

Our two powerhouse instructors who are delivering four new educational programs in April and May have extensive backgrounds in the mechanical contracting industry and the construction sector.

Meet your instructors: Kathryn Crosby and Kevin L. Dougherty, two industry veterans with a combined experience of over 65 years. Kathryn and Kevin are at the forefront of industry education, sharing their expertise, experiences and passion to empower professionals in the industry.

Kevin L. Dougherty

Consultant, Speaker & Author

For more than 30 years, Kevin L. Dougherty has been a leading speaker in the construction industry. Kevin represents a changing industry - aggressive, realistic, and open-minded. Kevin's work and education experience enables him to relate to today's problems and provides tangible solutions in an easy-to-listen style. He has taught thousands of people and his client base ranges from family-owned businesses to corporate conglomerates.

Kevin has served as a foreperson, journeyperson, sales manager, project manager, operations manager, corporate trainer and VP Mechanical Contractor. He has also been a frequent speaker for SMACNA, MCAA, MSCA, NECA, NFPC, SMART, U.A. PHCC, ISA, SBA, and other trade associations. Kevin has spoken to companies such as Benjamin Moore & Co., 3M, World of Concreate, Johnson Controls, W.R. Grace, Milwaukee Tools, Ferguson Enterprises, Morton International, Manville/Schuler, and Hagemeyer Electrical Australia.

Kathryn Crosby

Owner & Founder, C2 Consulting Inc.

Kathryn Crosby has more than 35 years experience in the construction business. While serving as Vice President and CFO for a mechanical contractor she was elected to the MCAA Board of Directors, nominated as chair for MCAA’s Project Management Education Committee, was active in the AGC, and served on the faculty of the MCAA’s highly acclaimed Institute for Project Management (IPM).

Now as Owner and Founder of C2 Consulting Inc, Kathryn continues sharing her expertise through seminars, training, and consulting throughout the US and Canada. She serves on the faculty of IPM, Construction Education Institute, MCAA’s National Education Initiative and the UA’s Instructor Training Program.
