Broadening our reach in BC: Welcome to our newest member, Genesis Building Controls Ltd.

Genesis Controls started in 2013 as part of a large electrical contracting firm. As the controls division expanded, Genesis branched off into its own entity in 2017. With over 20 years of experience in the controls trade, Genesis is quickly becoming one of the largest controls companies in the BC interior.

Wayne Davidson honoured for his contribution to MCAC

During last week’s MCAC AGM in Napa, California, Wayne Davidson, 2022-23 MCAC Secretary-Treasurer and Past President, was recognized for his contribution to the national organization. MCABC appreciates Wayne’s leadership, commitment and contribution to the mechanical contracting industry. Wayne continues to serve on the MCABC Board of Directors as Past President/Secretary-Treasurer.

Membership renewals for the 2024 year will begin in November. We hope you will continue your membership so you can enjoy all the benefits that come with being part of our thriving association, such as access to resources for your business, building your network, and upskilling through educational courses and sessions.

Act now on FortisBC rebates available until December 31st

Prescriptive rebates for high efficiency gas-fired equipment (natural gas boilers, water heaters and furnaces) are available until the end of the year. Talk to your customers so that they can take advantage of this final offer.

FortisBC also provides incentives for prescriptive gas heat pumps, the Custom Efficiency and Commercial New Construction Performance Programs, commercial kitchen equipment, and electric rebates (in FortisBC shared service territories). There is currently no expiry date for these offers.

Attention all employers: Become familiar with the New Pay Transparency Act

Starting November 1, employers in BC will be required to provide expected salary or wage information in publicly advertised job opportunities. The government of British Columbia has provided additional guidance on job posting requirements.

Last chance to join our Dispatcher Training Program!

This two-day program goes beyond traditional technical training to cover such critical dispatcher skills as leading technicians rather than letting technicians lead them, becoming the service manager’s partner, prioritizing customer emergencies, evaluating technician abilities, and managing their own careers in dispatching.
