    LISTEN: Importance of Women's PPE in the Trades

    Women in Mechanical Contracting (WiMC) launched the 5th episode of 'The Voice', to kick off the second season of the podcast series. Fitting In: Redefining Women's Workwear in Mechanical Contracting addresses the importance of women's work attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) in the trades. At the MCABC 2024 Conference, we gained insights from a panel discussion on how personal protective equipment (PPE) fails to fit women properly, highlighting the sizing challenge and safety implications of ill-fitting PPE.

    $20,000+ in scholarships to support future leaders of the mechanical contracting industry

    The Richard McKeagan Scholarship Series by the Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada (MCAC) aims to support students who have a connection to the mechanical contracting industry and are pursuing post-secondary education in Canada. MCAC has 17 scholarships worth over $20,000, including those for tools and equipment, women’s workwear, and assistance with education and trade-related expenses.

    The deadline to submit applications is September 1, 2024.

    Detailing Guide for Heat Pump Penetrations in Existing Buildings now available

    Only July 8th, BC Housing published the Detailing Guide for Heat Pump Penetrations in Existing Buildings in partnership with the City of Vancouver and The Province of B.C.

    This guide provides detailing methods for heat pump penetrations through walls in existing buildings and is intended for heat pump retrofit service providers, as well as building officials to use as a reference for best practices and solutions for detailing heat pump penetrations in existing buildings.
